cat and our goddess

Everyone was looking everywhere. Or, at least where they thought was everywhere. There weren't nearly enough people to cover the whole village at the same time. Through a human-unknown network of unused pipes and sky-high laundry wires, and with the aided help of light-shaded holes, which completely covered the black cat from being spotted, our lovely and darkling hero made his way from the Emperor's palace to a little rock fence on the side of a cliff, looking up at the full moon through a cloudy sky.

And he sat there, staring up, unseen by anyone as if he had disappeared into the night. The sky was light, with hues of pink and purpley blue, clouds moving slowly across the cat's vision, for moments at a time blocking his sight of the moon. Oh yes, his most dear moon.

“How I do adore you,” he said lovingly, his eyes large and droopy. He was full of love for this object in the sky, which he could never hold and could never hear him. It was the object he desired the most, and the one thing he could not have the most. He knew the moon was way too far for him to cuddle with and kiss with.

His original plan was to run away with her, the heroine of the night sky, and then to escape into the night. But not only could this not happen, if it were to, there would be nothing but the lonely stars to light the night sky. Our hero knew his moon and sky's stars belonged with each other, and knew they would long for each other, even if the moon had him. And because the moon is such a willful female, she could leave him at any moment to be back with the stars, her eternal lover.

For our hero could not live forever; he had barely enough years to fill a decade, how would he be with something as eternal as his mistress moon? The stars were eternal, just like she, so it was thus they were meant for one another... as heart-wrenching as it was for him to say it and forsake his hopeful elope with the moon.

Lonesome and sorrowful, our hero cat jumped off the rock fence and tapped his feet home.
